Gummy Smile
Ideally in the perfect smile the upper lip sits just above the teeth. However, if a patient has a high lip line, smiling can reveal excess gum. A gummy smile can be caused by strong facial muscles above the top lip, a thin upper lip, short teeth or long gums.
If your gummy smile is caused by strong muscles above your lip this can be corrected using anti-wrinkle injections (Botox®). If your lips are thin, we can treat your gummy smile by adding lip filler to increase volume and therefore hid your gums when you smile.
Some patients may need a combination of both treatments to help them achieve the smile they desire. During the consultation with Dr Janice she will be able to discuss a treatment plan and advise which treatment will give you the best result.
