Insurance Codes

Payment for many of the eye treatments we provide is covered by health insurance providers. As follows are the codes for the most common procedures. You may find them useful when discussing your level of cover with your health insurance provider.

Cataract associated:

  • 2802 – Cataract surgery including intraocular lens insertion
  • 2780 – Secondary intraocular lens insertion
  • 2647 – YAG laser capsulotomy post cataract surgery

Surgical retinal associated:

  • 2675 – Repair of retinal detachment (uncomplex)
  • 2677 – Repair of retinal detachment (complex – peeling of PVR)
  • 2676 – Vitrectomy ERM, macular hole, diabetic, vitreous haemorrhage etc.
  • 2506 – Removal of silicone oil (uncomplicated)
  • 2665 – Laser or freezing treatment (cryotherapy) for retinal tears and prevention of retinal detachment
  • 2806 – Laser for diabetic retinopathy or vein occlusion

Glaucoma associated:

  • 2644 – Cyclodiode laser for glaucoma
  • 2647 – YAG laser surgery iridectomy (narrow angle glaucoma)
