Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by increased sweating in excess of what is required to regulate your body temperature.
The condition can be very upsetting for our patients, resulting in unsightly wet patches, low self esteem and in some cases it effects both personal and professional lives.
It can be treated using muscle relaxing injections (Botox® manufactured by Allergan in Ireland) to the target area. These act to inhibit the sweat glands in that particular area only. It does not increase sweating in areas not treated. This effect can last 4 to 9 months. It has been shown that repetitive treatments can obtain longer lasting results.
